Eligibility

Who is eligible to be honored? +

Any past or present member of the U.S. Armed Forces — Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Reserves, or National Guard — who has a connection to Orwigsburg. This includes those who lived here, were raised here, or have immediate family in the community.

Can I honor someone who has passed away? +

Absolutely. Banners are a beautiful way to honor a loved one's memory. Indicate "In loving memory" on the application form.

Can I sponsor more than one hero? +

Yes — simply submit a separate application for each hero. Each banner is $120 (renewal) or $185 (new).

Cost & Payment

How much does it cost? +

Two tiers: $120 to renew an existing banner (we already have your photo on file), or $185 for a brand-new banner, which includes hanging hardware. Both cover production, installation, and removal.

How do I pay? +

After submitting the application, you'll be directed to our secure Stripe checkout. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

Is this tax-deductible? +

The sponsorship is a service for goods received (your custom banner). It is not generally tax-deductible. Please consult your tax advisor.

Banner & Photos

How big are the banners? +

Each banner is 24 inches wide by 48 inches tall, printed double-sided on heavy-duty UV-resistant vinyl built to withstand a full summer of sun and weather.

What kind of photo should I submit? +

A high-resolution photo (at least 3,000 × 3,000 pixels), ideally in uniform. JPEG or PNG is fine. Vintage or older photos are welcome — our designer will do their best to clean them up.

Can I see a proof before printing? +

Yes — we'll email you a digital proof for approval before sending the banner to print.

Display & Logistics

When are banners installed and removed? +

Banners are installed the week before Memorial Day and removed shortly after Veterans Day.

Can I request a specific lamp post location? +

We do our best to accommodate requests but cannot guarantee a specific location. Banners are arranged to be visible throughout town.

What happens to the banner at the end of the season? +

The banner is taken down, carefully rolled, and returned to the sponsor — many families display them at home or use them for memorial services.

What is the application deadline? +

Applications must be received by July 15, 2026. Submissions are accepted via this website or by hard mail — email submissions are not accepted to prevent lost registrations.
