Eligibility
Who is eligible to be honored? +
Any past or present member of the U.S. Armed Forces — Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Reserves, or National Guard — who has a connection to Orwigsburg. This includes those who lived here, were raised here, or have immediate family in the community.
Can I honor someone who has passed away? +
Absolutely. Banners are a beautiful way to honor a loved one's memory. Indicate "In loving memory" on the application form.
Can I sponsor more than one hero? +
Yes — simply submit a separate application for each hero. Each banner is $120 / $125 (renewal) or $190 / $195 (new). The lower price is for mailed checks; the higher includes the credit-card processing fee for online payment.
Cost & Payment
How much does it cost? +
Two tiers, with a small credit-card surcharge for online payment:
Renewal of an existing banner — $120 by mail-in check / $125 online
Brand-new banner (includes hanging hardware) — $190 by mail-in check / $195 online
Both tiers cover production, installation, and removal.
How do I pay? +
After submitting the application, you'll be directed to our secure Stripe checkout. We accept all major credit and debit cards.
Is this tax-deductible? +
The sponsorship is a service for goods received (your custom banner). It is not generally tax-deductible. Please consult your tax advisor.
Banner & Photos
How big are the banners? +
Each banner is 24 inches wide by 48 inches tall, printed double-sided on heavy-duty UV-resistant vinyl built to withstand a full summer of sun and weather.
What kind of photo should I submit? +
A high-resolution photo, ideally in uniform. JPEG or PNG, up to 10 MB. Vintage or older photos are welcome — our designer will do their best to clean them up.
Do I need to submit a new photo if I'm renewing an existing banner? +
No — the Foundation already has your original photo on file, and we'll use the same one for the renewed banner. However, if you'd like to submit a different photo for your renewed banner, we're happy to accept it. Just upload it with your application.
Display & Logistics
How long do banners stay up? +
Banners are hung throughout Orwigsburg from approximately Memorial Day through Veterans Day each year. They are printed with weather-resistant inks and UV-protective coating and are expected to last approximately 6 years before they need to be replaced. The current replacement effort is the first major refresh of the program.
What is the application deadline? +
Applications must be received by November 11, 2026. Submissions are accepted via this website or by hard mail — email submissions are not accepted to prevent lost registrations.
